Its time for the Souper Bowl. No. That’s not a typo. Souper Bowl Sunday is annual event used by many to draw attention to the millions of people who live in America and do not have enough food. It’s a problem in practically every community. The website feedingamerica.org reports 49 million Americans live in food insecure homes. Senior citizens and children are hit the hardest. Food insecurity extends beyond those living in poverty and includes many who are unemployed or underemployed. During the years 2011 – 2013 in Missouri 16.9% of us lived unsure when we would eat our next meal.
Food pantries across America need our help. Our church is collecting soup for the Pleasant Hill food pantry. We are having fun with it and you can root for your favorite Super Bowl team by placing cans of soup on our football fields located in the lobby. At last check the favorite team at our church was….
