Are we done with Easter or is Easter just beginning? The special services of Holy Week and Easter are in the record book and if Easter is merely a box on the church calendar that we can check off, done, done and done, then Easter is over and we can all take a well-deserved break. It was a great week. We had more than 80 people at both our Maundy Thursday and our Good Friday services. Easter morning we celebrated 4 services and served at least 460 people Holy Communion. By all accountings it was a great celebration.
If Easter is just beginning do we need to roll up our sleeves and get to work? We had guests and people who attend church on special occasions that could be invited into a new relationship with Jesus. We could take Jesus more personally and seriously when he said, “Love others as I have loved you.” We could really take it to heart when he told his disciples to feed the hungry, clothe the naked and visit the sick. The church calendar says the Easter season begins on Easter and lasts until Pentecost (50 days later). But in reality aren’t we always Christians of the Easter season?
