Connecting people to Jesus Christ
At the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church we believe our purpose is to connect people to Jesus Christ and introduce them to God’s grace. You and your family are welcome here. Worship is authentic, dress is casual, music is lively and fresh and we hope you will find we are friendly and warm people who demonstrate that we are glad you are here.
In our experience we have learned:
- God created the world we live in and loves every person in that world. We don’t judge people by where they have been; everyone is welcome here.
- Jesus really lived, he really died on the cross and three days later he really rose from the dead. We don’t water that down – ever.
- People who do not go to church are not bad people.
- Some Christians have fallen away from the church for personal and deep reasons. We would like to help heal their wounds and revitalize their faith.
- Salvation is not so much a get out of hell free card as it is an invitation to live life to its fullest and in a loving relationship with God our creator.
You don’t have to change your beliefs before you can come here. You will hear about God who loves you, and has a plan for your life. God’s plan includes grace, forgiveness, peace, meaning and purpose. We are a place where faith grows through worship, Bible study and by serving God while helping others. We are an outwardly focused church that believes God calls us to be the hands and feet of Jesus Christ. We believe lives are changed as we experience God’s love.

Additional Information that might be helpful
Through the power of the Holy Spirit and by spending time in worship, prayer, Bible study, education, and discussion with others and through reason and life experience, we gain insight about God and the ministry of Jesus Christ.
We believe there is a better way to live. Each week our pastor guides us to deal with difficult questions including:
- What will we do when backbreaking routines and busy schedules, insensitive corporate bosses, loveless marriages and pointless vacations do not add up to a life worth living?
- Is there a cure for disease and brokenness?
- Can we discover freedom from our addictions, including our addiction to sin and death?
- What do I need to cut away from my life if I am going to find true happiness?
“Faith,” as defined in Hebrews 11:1-3 “is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible.”
By faith we do not mean faith as opposed to reason. Faith does not believe in things that don’t make sense. The mystery of faith is not that we should believe the unbelievable. Faith says that while we cannot explain how God works we can still know there is God. To find personal and spiritual contentment we must live according to our faith. Christianity is more than a belief system; it is a lifestyle of obedience to God, ministry to people and ministry for Jesus.
We are about the process of connecting people to Jesus Christ. The first role of the church is to proclaim the Good News, “God loves you and has a plan for you.” Jesus relieves the burdens of fear, guilt and ego and replaces them with an experience of God’s love. It is only by helping people know the plan God has for them that they see what might be missing in their lives. The role of the church includes modeling the arrival of the Kingdom of God and inviting every person to become a full member of the family.
We promote opportunities to experience God through prayer, Bible study and participating in the miracles of God as relationships are restored and visions become a reality. It is through experience with Jesus that God is revealed to us. We are a community drawn together by the Holy Spirit and a common vision. Our church is a place where people hear the truth of the Good News that God loves them because this truth makes life worth living and because it fulfills God’s plan of love. It is a place where people receive forgiveness and offer the same to others, where relationships with God and other people become healthy.
Worship is another of the primary roles of the church. We encourage people to experience the Holy Spirit in worship through preaching, singing and sharing authentic love for one another. The presence of the Holy Spirit changes a gathering of people and forms them into the church. Where the presence of the Spirit is there is love, hope, joy, forgiveness and purpose.
The church is a place where structured Bible study helps people better understand God’s plan for each person. We are serious about how we study Scripture and help learners develop healthy understandings of God.
Missions allow us to practice the love Jesus is perfecting in each of us. Building houses, stocking food pantries and providing support for families going through difficult times are all examples of ways people can serve Jesus. Jesus said that how we treat him is revealed in how we treat those in need.
